We recently spent a blissful, beautiful, relaxing month on Maui (see my Maui Travel Guide here). Having this amount of time away gave us the opportunity to unwind and to truly relax. Like so many other families, our lives are so full of schedules, schedules for work, school, programs, dinners, family time and this list goes on. Somewhere in all of the busy, I had the best of intentions to hire a photographer to capture these fleeting moments of our young family, but it just never seemed to fit. Read more for how I came about finding Flytographer and our experience.
I, like many Mamas, LOVE Christmas! It is a guilty pleasure of mine to decorate in the middle of November just so I can enjoy the festive feeling in our home for as long as possible. (I also start my Christmas shopping in October, I just love Christmas that much!) On a recent trip to Toronto with my boys, I found some time to wander through Chapters-Indigo. I want to share with you a few of my favourite decor pieces for the Holiday Season.
As I mentioned in my Top Three Favourite Spaces Home Tour, during our build I put a lot of energy into choosing the right light fixtures for each space. However, in the bedrooms I completely ignored this choice. Reed was only 18 months old and I really didn’t know what direction I would end up going in his room. I thought it best to shelve the decision and come back to it when I was ready to design a new room for him. Piece by piece I’ve been creating a big boy room for our little guy and the light fixture is one of the last pieces I need to complete the space.
Earlier this year we made the decision to eat less meat. This was an organic choice for us because Reed is a born vegetarian, he simply doesn’t like it. So we have been enjoying trying new things in the kitchen to greatly reduce our meat consumption. This Roast Broccoli and Almond Pasta dish is one of my favourites.
We love to visit our local bakery for all of the delicious, handmade breads and treats (especially the flax bread!) But we just don’t get there as often as we’d like. So Mike and I decided to invest in a bread maker. With our busy schedules it makes it possible to enjoy fresh bread possible every day!
A L O H A!
A piece of me belongs on Maui and this was something I learned the first time I stepped off of the plane in the Aloha state. Admittedly, I’m a homebody. I love being close to family and all that is familiar. But there is just something about Maui that feels so natural so it is not surprising that I seem to find my way back. In this post I have put together a Travel Guide on how we do Maui.
